MISSION
My goal is to help patients overcome chronic pain through massage therapy. I got into massage therapy to help patients who suffer from muscular pain, and my practice focuses mainly on targeted work. My first question to my patients is always “Are you hurting anywhere?” Although my focus is on pain relief, if you do not want deeper, targeted work—all you have to do is let me know. I want all of my patients to see themselves as an ACTIVE part of a team with me, working together so that pain no longer has control. I value and actively seek honest feedback from my patients, so if there is something we need to work on or change in your massages, PLEASE let me know. I am always looking to learn more, find new approaches, and be BETTER. The following Policies and Procedures are in place so we both know what to expect from each other and so we can meet this goal. For example, the Cancellation and Rescheduling Policies are in place to allow me time to fill an opening and help more patients who may be hurting. No Policy is designed to anger or alienate. Any changes to these Policies and Procedures will be available both in my office and online on my website (http://www.SebringMassageTherapy.com).
HOURS OF OPERATION
My office is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Appointments are necessary, and each one usually begins on the hour. I usually work in back-to-back appointments so that I can see as many patients as possible while making sure prices are reasonable. For this reason, I will be unable to continue into the next appointment time if you are late to your appointment.
MASSAGE THERAPY SERVICES AND PRICES
Massage Therapy will be performed from 30-120 minutes per patient request. Please let me know the amount of time you will need when you make your appointment so that I can block off the appropriate time necessary. Any changes to scheduled appointments must be made at least 24 hours prior to scheduled appointment time. This allows me to schedule patients who may be on a WaitList accordingly, as I am trying to help as many patients get relief as possible. Recurring last minute changes to appointments will be subject to the Cancellation Policy found below.
Half Hour Appointment: $40
One Hour Appointment: $70
Hour and a Half Appointment: $100
I offer a variety of massage services, including: Therapeutic, Deep Tissue, Relaxation, Trigger Point, Myofascial Release, and Sports Massage. Massages can be Targeted (a popular example of this is Upper Body only) or Full body. If you have questions about which massage type would be best for you, we can discuss it prior to your massage.
Three For $170
By and large, most of my patients buy the “3 for $170”, a package of 3 One Hour Massages purchased together for $170. These massages do not expire and may be used by friends and family members if the patient buying the package tells me. These massages do not have to be scheduled within a certain time, as I will keep track of which number you are on in my appointment book, but they do need to be purchased all at once. All packages are subject to the refund policy stated in these Policies and Procedures.
ACCEPTED METHODS OF PAYMENT/CHECK POLICIES
Patients may pay for services with Cash, Credit Cards, or United States Personal Checks. Payment is due at the time of service. If a check is returned for insufficient funds, I will have to charge a $35 returned check fee to be paid within 5 business days with the amount still owed. If returned check fee and payment are not paid in full by the end of 5 business days, I will have to report the returned check to the authorities so they may seek action on my behalf. In this event, I reserve the right not to schedule the patient for any future services.
INSURANCE
I do not currently bill any insurance companies directly for massage therapy services. This is because I am not currently aware of any insurance company that covers massage therapy performed by an independent Licensed Massage Therapist. However, I will be happy to provide any necessary documentation so my patients can seek reimbursement from their insurance company.
TIPPING
Tips are not included in the price of services—and completely up to patient discretion. Tips are never expected, however—they are always appreciated.
GIFT CERTIFICATES
Gift Certificates are available for purchase using the same pricing listed above. From time to time, I offer discounted Gift Certificates (usually around the holidays)—so feel free to ask if I have any Gift Certificate specials running. Purchased Gift Certificates do not have an expiration date, but they do require an appointment for redemption. Any donated Gift Certificates will have a two year expiration date to comply with Florida State Law. Donated Gift Certificates also require an appointment for redemption.
COUPON REDEMPTION
From time to time, I offer coupons online or in local media. Coupons are redeemable per terms listed and may not be combined with other offers or packages. Please let me know about your coupon when you book your appointment if you are planning to use one.
ALLERGIES/ESSENTIAL OILS
I have several patients with allergies to essential oils, therefore I do not use them in my practice. Essential oils can linger and I would not want to harm anyone. The oil that I do use is a mix containing Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, and Arnica Oil. From time to time, I will use Arnicare (an all natural anti-inflammatory gel), Muay Cream (a analgesic cream containing menthol and eugenol), and/or Terrafreeze (a blend of emu oil, arnica oil, and methyl salicylate used to combat nerve and muscular pain)—but I will ask you before applying these. Please let me know if you are sensitive to any of these ingredients prior to your massage so we can make other arrangements.
SILICONE AND VACUUM CUPPING
I use Silicone Massage Cupping in most of my massage work. Silicone Cupping is a light form of Cupping that should not leave lingering marks or bruising, and I use them to open up fascia and superficial muscle tissue so that I can work deeper without bruising/damaging the muscle. Silicone Cupping feels anywhere from “nothing at all” to a “pulling” sensation—but it should not be painful. If you feel any discomfort while receiving Silicone Cupping, please let me know and I will adjust the level of skin/fascia/muscle inside the Cup. I just want you to know that you can—and should—speak up. I am best able to help you with open communication.
Vacuum Cupping is completely different from Silicone Cupping. With Vacuum Cupping, a hand vacuum is used to suction air out of a plastic Cup—pulling a LOT more tissue into the cup. Vacuumed Cups are usually left in one spot for 3-5 minutes, and a lingering circular red mark or bruise will remain for a few days on the skin. Vacuum Cupping, made popular recently by famous athletes, is designed to milk toxins out of the muscles and relieve pain. Athletes utilize Vacuum Cupping before and after events to remove toxins left in muscle tissue while competing. This form of Cupping may be uncomfortable, as tissues are pulled into the Cup—but this discomfort usually lessens after a few seconds. If you are interested in this form of Cupping, please let me know when you are scheduling your appointment as it is a separate service. Vacuum Cupping can be combined with other massage therapy services.
Silicone Cupping is included in the price of your massage. Vacuum Cupping is a separate service based on time. Most Vacuum Cupping sessions last 30 minutes and cost $40, but we can create a treatment plan based on your needs when we schedule your appointment.
CRANIAL RELEASE TECHNIQUE
Cranial Release Technique is a neck stretch designed to align the cranium. Not to be confused with CranioSacral Therapy, CRT is a fast method and can help with issues such as: headache, TMJ, neck/shoulder/head pain, dizziness, and sinus congestion. CRT is available as an add-on service with any massage session and the cost is now free.
DRAPING/UNDRESSING
Stephanie Farrer Massage Therapy has a draping policy. For this reason, I will be unable to perform massage therapy without proper draping. I want you to be comfortable at all times, so if you do not want to remove a certain article of clothing (an example being bra or underwear)—that is completely fine with me. All you have to do is let me know. When you are preparing for your massage, please wait until I have exited the room to remove your clothing. As you get on the massage table, please get under the first sheet. I will maneuver this sheet, exposing only the area that I am currently working on. I will never remove the sheet to expose you inappropriately, and I will always ask your permission before doing any gluteal work uncovered. Your comfort is the most important thing to me.
RESCHEDULING AND CANCELLATION
I require 24 HOUR Notice on all Rescheduling and Cancellation—except in the case of family/medical emergency or last minute illness. I do understand that we all make mistakes or forget appointments from time to time, but habitual late rescheduling or cancellation make it impossible for me to get patients in who are on the WaitList and hurting. I want to be available for patients who value the work that I do, and habitually not showing for an appointment makes me feel that the patient does not find value in massage therapy. For this reason, I reserve the right to charge a $30 cancellation fee in the event that last minute rescheduling or cancellation becomes habitual. I will make every effort to have a conversation to resolve the situation before charging the fee. In the event that charging the fee does not resolve the situation—or in the event of more than one “No Call/No Show”, I reserve the right to no longer schedule the patient. If I have to dismiss a patient due to habitual cancellation/rescheduling/no call-no show, I will be unable to provide a referral to another Licensed Massage Therapist because the Massage Therapists I refer to have similar cancellation policies.
WAITLIST
I have a running WaitList each week that I am fully booked. The WaitList works just like my appointments, first come-first serve. If I am able to schedule someone from the WaitList, I begin making calls from the first person on the list until I reach someone that can book the appointment. If the WaitList is not crowded, sometimes I can hold an appointment for a few hours. If I am able to do this, I will state it in my message to you. After the time stated, I will continue to contact patients further down the list until the spot is booked. If I have contacted you once for the WaitList and we could not book the appointment, don’t worry—I will continue to try and contact you should another appointment open up until we can get you scheduled. However, there are circumstances where I will use my discretion in utilizing the WaitList. I reserve the right to book appointments based on the needs of all of my patients.
PATIENT ILLNESS POLICY
Patients should not come to massage therapy appointments if they are sick. If you have a cold, stomach or other virus or any other communicable disease or disorder—you will not be able to receive massage therapy. Please call me prior to your appointment so that can reschedule, adhering to the 24 hour cancellation policy whenever possible. I reserve the right not to perform massage therapy on a patient who is sick. The reason I do this is not only so I do not get sick and pass the illness to other patients—but also because there are patients who will come in that day after the sick patient. I hold the health and safety of all of my patients as the highest priority. Please know that if you are turned away from a massage appointment, it is not because I am being rude to you. In fact, I am also working to protect you as the sick person. Massage therapy can often make many contagious conditions worse. Trust me when I tell you that you would not usually like me after having a massage when you are sick.
BRINGING CHILDREN/PETS TO APPOINTMENTS The massage experience is designed specifically for patient relief and relaxation. Patients cannot fully relax into the massage experience with distractions, and I need to be fully focused on the massage therapy I am performing in order to be effective. There are situations where I have no problem with patients bringing their children to appointments, namely when children are old enough to remain seated and self-occupied (an example would be when children come into the office lobby or massage room and are seated watching a phone or other device for the entirety of the massage appointment). However, there are circumstances where I will not be able to properly massage patients when children become a distraction. In these cases, I will have to stop the massage. Any remaining time left for the appointment will need to be paid for in full, and any damages incurred during these sessions will also need to be paid at the time they are created. I have had to enact this policy due to circumstances where children have been allowed to run around during massage appointments, distracting me and incurring damage to my office furniture and decor. I have children of my own and try to be understanding, but there are times where I have no choice but to enforce this rule. If you have any questions, please speak to me prior to your appointment so we do not end up in an uncomfortable situation.
Any animals brought into the office will need to have proper service animal documentation. I have pets and enjoy them very much, but I also have patients who are allergic to various animals and have to maintain a clean and safe environment for all of my patients. I must reserve the right to end any massage session where an animal creates an unsafe situation. Any damages incurred by animals will need to be paid for at the time of occurrence, including any fees for cleaning services. Please feel free to speak to me at any time about these policies.
INAPPROPRIATE/SEXUAL SITUATIONS
I reserve the right to refuse service to patients. Inappropriate or sexual situations will not be tolerated. This is a legitimate, medical massage therapy practice and anything solicited outside my scope of practice as a Licensed Massage Therapist will result in immediate dismissal with Law Enforcement intervention when warranted. There will be no refunds of Gift Certificates/Prepaid Packages when inappropriate or sexual situations occur—nor will there be a referral to another Licensed Massage Therapist.
HIPAA COMPLIANCE-PATIENT PRIVACY
Stephanie Farrer Massage Therapy complies with all federal, state, and local laws including HIPAA. Notice of Privacy Practices for Stephanie Farrer Massage Therapy is included in your Patient Package. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding any Privacy Practices because protecting your privacy as my patient is very important to me.

Again, I am open to honest and constructive criticism. I strive for openness and honesty in my practice, and I do appreciate it when patients let me know how I am doing.
